Using a complex process called wind-averaged aerodynamic drag, a full range of aero helmets were independently tested against a traditional race helmet in a wind tunnel facility in Arizona. Each helmet was tested at a wind velocity of 25 mph at a 30º head angle. The tests proved that the Star Pro with vents closed provided a significantly faster ride than the closest competitors.

Two-layer liner has softer density EPS foam on interior sections and stiffer EPS foam on exterior zones

FROM METAL TO PEDAL. INSPIRED BY MOTO.

Inspiration came from our long storied history in motorcycle racing and developing aerodynamic profiles for helmets that benefit racers traveling in excess of 200mph. The iconic silhouette and proven heritage of speed offered design cues and proof of what can be achieved. To meet the aggressive aerodynamic goals that were laid out by our engineering team, we built a custom wind-tunnel at “The Dome,” Bell’s Helmet Technology Center in Scotts Valley, California. We also worked with the sports engineers of Belkin to realize the helmet’s potential and ultimately had the validation come from independent third-party wind tunnel testing. In the end, Star Pro’s test data spoke for itself.
