I've had 2 Bell Volt helmets prior to this one and loved the comfort and ventilation they provided though at 380g (med) they were on the heavy side which I'd notice on long rides.
I've been waiting for the Gage to hit our shores since I heard they were approved for sale in OZ.
With all Bells the sizing is the same troughout their range so for me it was simple to order online at Bikebug and wait it's arrival.
I've had the helmet for about 3 weeks now and put it through it's paces including a 130km ride.
Wow this is the most comfortable helmet I've worn, I read lines like "I forgot I was wearing it" and think really, a helmet on your head and you didn't notice?
But really that is exactly my experience with the Gage, the padding is minimal but well positioned, the vents are large and extreme. The TAG retension system (to me the best adjustment system of any helmet) is just comfortable (as wearing your baseball cap) and so easily adjusted anytime. The helmet (med) comes in at 240g and feels super light compared to the 380g of the Volt.
I'd highly recommend the Gage to anyone, it is easily the best helmet I've put on my head.
Upgraded from a Volt. Loved the Volt and will like the Gage even better. Same Bell fit, very light and great ventilation. Very competitive price for what you get. Graphics can't match Giro, but fit, performance and price certainly do. I tried the Specialized Propero II and hated it. Ventilation was really bad for all the Big Mouth technology (actually the pad was made to cover half the mouth). The Gage has the same low profile of the Volt. It's hard to claim that any $190 helmet has an excellent price and value but compared to Aeon and Prevail, the price and value are excellent.
