The Super's Overbrow Ventilation™ system is tuned for trail riding and actively ushers cool air over the head via four intake ports on the brow of the helmet. A specially designed bridge keeps the ducting free from obstruction while the Super's air-channel matrix works in concert with the helmet's 25 vents for maximum high speed airflow, as well as optimized passive ventilation at low speed.
The GoggleGuide™ Adjustable Visor System allows riders to manage their eyewear with minimal intrusion on their ride. The flexible system accommodates both goggles and glasses, and works either with the visor installed, or without, using the included goggle retention arms. Simple, effective, cool.
INTEGRATED, REMOVABLE GOPRO CAMERA MOUNT
The Super's Integrated Camera Mount seamlessly affixes your GoPro camera in the perfect spot without the need for messy double-stick tape or zip-ties. The removable breakaway mount clicks into the Super's top vent, leaving no trace when not in use and putting the camera in the ideal position to capture your ride.
I have been on a helmet hunt since the new year has started, I bought and sold helmets until I tried the super. And Im happy to say this is what I will be sticking with. I have already worn mine to victory in an SoCal XC race. And have several epic rides on it great helmet Bell keep up the good work.
I'd just started mountain biking and got to thinking one day I really need to invest in a helmet before I get hurt. So I had done some looking and this to me was the best helmet. It fits low on your head like a hat which provides better protection on the back and front of your head. Plus it provides lots of room to wear goggles if you want. Although, I thought the price was expensive, I went with it. Best decision I ever made! Two weeks later I crashed my bike riding at night up on the foot hills of Mt. Diablo (Stupid I know). Broke my wrist, several part on my bike, and received a concussion. Can only imagine if I wasn't wearing this helmet how bad I could of really hurt myself. The Helmet though wasn't so lucky, it ended up denting and cracking. Better the Helmet than my skull! Customer Service was awesome, was able to receive a discount through the Crash Replacement Program for a new one. Ordered the same one. Hopefully the new one will last longer than the last one did!
Great helmet offering full protection, perfect for mounting a camera as the snug fit ensures no camera shake that is usually experienced with head mounted camera. The veneration system works a treat and even on hot days the helmet is very comfortable
The Super is, hands down, the best-ventilated bike helmet I have ever worn. The fit is very easy to dial in, thanks to the adjuster at the rear of the helmet, and when set up properly, it will hardly move at all, even with a GoPro mounted on top. Unlike most bicycle helmets, the Super gives me a feeling of protection...it's a lot more than a disposable ice chest on your head! I love mine!
Will you be releasing the model titanium with red rosé and sculls into Australia? I have been waiting for months for this helmet to to receive ANZ standards. But I have been told only limited models will be offered, not including this model...
Is this true?
I'm very impressed with this (so much so that I just bought a Stoker for commuting in). The ventilation is astonishing (as someone else said, you could almost think you forgot to put it on), particularly for such a solidly-built and great fitting helmet; it really holds on to your head. Very comfortable, and the overall quality of the helmet is impressive. . I appreciate that the detachable pads are much more substantial that many others (the spongy ones in my old helmet from a four-letter company beginning with G fell apart on a very regular basis).
Fits really well and wraps around the back of your head keeping it much safter. Venting is great even on hot days. Really light and the gopro and visor features just add to what a good helmet like this is already doing. Little bit over priced, but thats because it's RRP is $180 Australia. But for $125 you get plenty of bang for your buck.
Let me start with the good...
Love the fit! This a great fitting, easily customizable fitting helmet, even while wearing gloves. I have had many helmets over the years and this is my favorite fitting helmet to date. Looks pretty good and there is lots of coverage on the back. This is a good all mountain designed helmet and does not seem all that more heavy than my CX Giro helmet.
Ok, the not so good...
Something I had never experienced before was a loud wind howl... When you start to pick up speed you are subjected to a loud wind noise running through the helmet; seemingly channeled right at your ears. I am sure I will get use to it over time, but perhaps bell will read this review and work to resolve this. Also, the plastic screws that allow for visor adjustment are fragile. The first super helmet I ordered they were broken on delivery. So far on my second super helmet these are holding up, but I have little confidence in these plastic screws. Bell, how about aluminum or similar next time?
In terms of design and protection this helmet lives to its name, really SUPER! I got my Taylor Reeve Afterparty last June 2013 and was very happy. However after just two trail riding sessions, one of the visor bolt fell off with half of the thread bolt left inside. Mine has the black plastic visor bolt which is different than than the new release which looks like made of aluminum. Probably Bell already thought of this issue and made the modification on newer helmets.
The most incredible all around riding helmet I've ever owned. I've never been one to go second rate on head gear and this is by far the best trail helmet I've ever owned. Fit is perfect, the adjustments allow for the perfect combination of goggle and helmet. The sense of security I've received from my BELL helmets has really let me relax riding and enjoy it so much more. Add to that the comfort and cooling of the helmet and you can't find a better helmet.
got mine few days ago and Im quite impressed.
this lid is something I was looking for. Always liked the Urge lids but found them too costy and not enough vented.. now Im very lucky with Super helmet -- looks good, ventilation is great for an enduro helmet, good quality build.
I like the forehead ventilation system- it works.
the fit is comfortable, not as tight as my old buckle Giro Flak but there is no movement in any direction (maybe slight side-to side) when shaking my head.
The most comfortable and balanced helmet this head has ever had the pleasure of imparting. For those that ride steep and gnarly, this helmet is definitely for you. Confidence inspiring.
I love my new helmet! Coming from a Giro Feature this helmet is a bit heavier but it is also way better ventilated. The retention system is superior on the Super as well. The helmet itself fits snug on the top of my head and the retention system wraps around the head to provide a comfortable fit thats not too tight in any one area. The Giro retention system and helmet seemed to wrap around the circumference of my head in a continuous band but did not fit the top of my head as well as the Super does. The Super sits in place better with the retention system only slightly tightened as opposed to the Giro Feature that needed to be snugged down quite a bit to keep in place. I like the Giro but after using the Super on my local trails and on lift assisted trails I'd say the Super is superior.
I also like the ingenious integration of the GoPro mount and goggle channels. With the GoPro mounted and the helmet tightened down I do not get too much play in the helmet, even with the added weight. The goggle channels work as advertised and designed although I primarily run sunglasses over goggles.
This helmet is fantastic! I bought mine in the green, and like the other review, the shade of green is much brighter and better looking in person. In terms of quality, the padding is very comfortable and plush, and the x-static silver threads are a nice touch. The rear adjustment mechanism is comfortable and does its job nicely. If you are the sort of rider who wears goggles, they work really well with this helmet. I have tried them and the system is very hassle free. The ventilation is my favorite part of the helmet though. It is actually so effective that I thought I forgot to put my helmet back on when I started riding at one point, no joke! I give this helmet a 4 on value purely for the fact that as far as I know, my helmet did not include the optional goggle guides like advertised. I had no intention of using them in the first place, but it would have been nice to receive what I paid for. My only suggestion is to find a good place to keep the gopro mount when not using it because I've already lost mine. Other than those small details, awesome helmet!
I tried the Super on at Sea Otter and it fits great. It hugged my head better than any other i tried. It felt as if I could go ride with out the strap and not worry about it falling off.
My suggestion is too see one in person before choosing a color, because they are seemed different than that those in the photos above. (In my opinion the green is brighter than the photo, and I think it looks better in person.)
I've had Bell helmets before, (cracked it in multiple spots from a crash), and this will be my next helmet purchase.
Is this for sale now? It looks fantastic!
