Who We Are
Derek Hess’s artwork has been described as raw, gritty, visceral and tough.
These are all attributes that have been core to the Bell brand since it was started in a garage fifty years ago. Hess grew up watching his dad (a WWII veteran) paint images of planes and tanks, and earned degrees in both industrial and fine art in Michigan and Ohio. Currently based in Cleveland, Hess mixes line art seamlessly with rock and roll. He’s designed rock posters for bands like Pantera, Thursday, Pink Floyd and Pearl Jam, and his original style has also paved the way for his own clothing company. There’s also a long list of Hess fans that have inked his work as tattoos on their body. Hess’ appreciation for motorcycles, fine aesthetics and ability to transcend genres with an original style has made him a key part of Bell’s artist network.
